In the lecture, Dr. Chen mentioned that it is not easy to recognize the symptoms of children and adolescents with mental illness. First, we must know the causes and crises. When perceiving the signs of adolescent patients, we should also pay attention to the risk factors that the child will face in the growing environment. For example, growing up in a community with a high crime rate. The following Dr. Chen will guide the parents to be aware of the danger signals according to the age of the child's growth.Because children are not at the stage of growth, the symptoms we need to pay attention to are also different.
Representation of pre-school and pre-primary
1. Behavior problems occurred in school or nursery, such as bullying and hitting other children.
2. Compared with other children, overactive.

Symptoms of adolescence
Parents need to be particularly vigilant if they have some of the symptoms of the above pre-school and elementary school stages, plus the following signs:
1. Produce destructive behaviors, destroy objects, set fires and harm others or pets.
2. Frequently asked to leave.
3. Self-isolation, often hiding in the room.
4. Video games are addictive, can't let go, and react fiercely when forced to let go.
5. Use words or words to express the intention to harm others. "Here, Dr. Chen said that teenagers will use different expressions to write about their inner pain. Parents don't need to react too fiercely. You can consult doctors."
6. Self-harm such as cutting, etc. This is not suicidal tendency, but an unhealthy reaction of adolescents to their own inner pain.
7. Lying, stealing, cash or credit card missing at home.
8. Drug abuse.
Dr. Chen told us that if a child has a mental illness, these are some signs that parents should see. However, parents are often too busy with their careers, or do not value participation in the child’s growth and ignore them, and sometimes because they don’t know what danger signals are. It is also because of the face problem that he refuses to admit that the child has a mental illness and the illness continues to become serious.
Next, Dr. Chen told us that there are two major factors that cause children's mental illness: environmental factors and genetic factors
envirnmental factor
Loss and sorrow in life
- Parents die prematurely, close relocation, parents divorce, loved family members or pets die, parents go to jail, etc.
- Abandonment and rejection are the deepest harm to children.
- All kinds of abuse-verbal, physical, emotional and sexual abuse, being ignored, etc.
- Sexual trauma
- Pornographic publications
- Never abuse drugs, parents rely on drugs such as alcohol
Dr. Chen has seen from his experience that many mental patients have family inherited factors, which are the following symptoms:
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
anxiety
autism
思 覺 失調 症
Depression
Bipolar depression
Drug dependence such as alcoholism.
In the next issue, we will continue to bring to readers the classification, myths and treatment options of young mental illnesses mentioned by Dr. Chen in the lecture. We hope that readers will pay attention to the November issue of Clarion.
